Happy New Year everyone!

To the year 2020, wow, what can be said that hasn't already been said? You really put us all to the test. You threw just about every obstacle our way and when we finally thought we got a grip, you continued to surprise us. 2020 is officially behind us and although the pandemic is not over, we are hopeful that 2021 will bring us joy and normalcy.

Let's take a moment to reflect as we step into 2021. If I had to put it in one word, it would be...

Resilience.

Parents were forced to work from home, children were forced to virtual, many businesses shut down and caused for loss of jobs, homes etc. We went through shortages of hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes, N-95 masks, toilet paper, paper towels, and even Dr. Pepper. We had to comply with social distancing, refraining on seeing other loved ones, cancelling trips, no sports or social activities and having to restructure our normal lives. There were limitations to everything this year and life was forced to be slowed down.

Even with all of these obstacles, we found a way to keep pushing forward. We adapted, adjusted and learned new ways to tackle our daily lives and pass time. Even your martial arts training had to be modified. The "struggle was real" from seeing everyone 2-3 times a week in person to only being able to see you from a computer screen. Though your training was not what we were all used to, we still managed to complete color belt graduations each quarter, had one of our largest groups of Red belts test for Black Belt, had virtual activities on Webex, saw member growth in our sword classes, mom's did yoga with Master Amy virtually, participated in summer camp, had an outdoor belt graduation and even had drive thru belt ceremonies.

We didn't let the pandemic stop us from connecting with you and you stuck by our side through it all. We are so grateful to each of our USK families for supporting us. Thank you.

So cheers to the new year! Let's all bounce back in 2021. Keep being strong and optimistic. Keep your training going strong and don't give up. If you paused or stopped your training last year, don't sit there a moment longer contemplating, come back. We are here for you. Together we can keep pushing.

Tang Soo!
