  • How often should I stretch?

"Master Amy, how often should I be stretching?" I get this question often for all ages of students. To be honest, everyday for about 10mins will not only gradually improve your body's condition but will boost your energy too! The main reason we encourage stretching especially prior to class is to prevent injury. When we stretch, we are controlling our breathing and awakening our muscles to prepare them for practice. Stretching at least 15-30 mins prior to training is ideal so that you can give your body plenty of time. Stretching naturally will help to increase overall reach and flexibility. • Are you drinking enough water?

About 60-70% of our body is composed of water. I recently learned that 90% of our blood is water. That's why it is recommended to drink 8 glasses of 80z water each day to stay hydrated and keep our body functioning properly. Drinking that much water daily easier said than done though for some of us isn't it? This is because the water helps carry oxygen flow ....

So, you worked hard in class tonight and need to re-fuel your body. What we put into our bodies will translate into the energy we are able to put out.
